It bothers me when the people capable of change refuse to acknowledge the burdens other people must overcome. We need to walk in other people’s shoes and truly understand the forces we are fighting. Poverty is not the true battle. Poverty masks the battle and make it that much harder to fight. The real battle facing Belizeans, is our self image. We walk around talking about how proud we are and every pan whe knack we show it off and shake our asses. But the truth is, we don’t live it. How many things are you doing just because that’s how your mom did it and your granny did it and her ma before her? Stop blaming everything and everybody else. It is easy to say it’s tv. It’s easy to say it’s the Americans. It is easy to say it’s the government, the teachers, the church…you get my point. Did we forget we are part of all of that???? Let’s not demonize anyone or anything. There is good in everything and a purpose for all. I’m sick and tired of hearing the blame game. We can’t all become political activists. We can’t all volunteer. (Let’s be honest, some of us just don’t work well with others LOL)But there is something we can definitely do and that is, take responsibility for what we do as parents, friends, citizens. Start with ourselves. You wanna have a voice? Know what you are talking about. Go read something. Go talk to people who know. That’s free. It costs your time and effort. And the payoff will benefit generations. Stop whining and put on your big girl panties!!!!!!
